The South West

Some of our guests are coming from far and wide! We hope you enjoy your stay in our little area of England, and we would love to recommend some lovely places we have found in our years here. We will hopefully fill this all in soon for you!

Bristol
Bristol has been our home for almost 4 years, and we really love this city! Our little hood is called Southville, and is right on the harbor side, close to the city center, but with our own high street filled with our fav haunts.

If we were showing a friend around Bristol here is where we would take them. (You can click the names to take you to their websites).

Harborside: The Arnolfini contemporary art gallery is right on the water, a classic place to enjoy a can of cider in the summer, and a cozy space to visit in rainy winter. Lovely bookshop and cafe as well. Across the way is the lovely Olive Shed, perfect for some tapas and wine as the sun sets. A bit further down you can find Mud Dock with a great outdoor patio, and then River Station with delicious food.

St Nicholas Market: Right in the center of town this is a beautiful old covered market with great food stalls and some quirky little shops.

Clifton Village: With beautiful houses and streets, posh shops and expensive restaurants, worth a wander just for the architecture, and a view of the famous Suspension Bridge. Classy pubs up here, expensive drinks. We love to go to The Primrose Cafe for brunch, and look across at Reg the Veg, the family run green grocer.

Gloucester Road: The largest number of independent shops on one road in all of the UK - great food and shops to check out.  The Gallimaufry is a cool place for music and food, and Cafe Kino is a great vegan cafe-bar found in Stokes Croft.

North Street in Southville: Our hood! Starting at the bottom there is Mark's Bread, delicious pastries and bread. Then The Tobacco Factory, a massive industrial space with local Bristol beers on tap. Then up to Southville Deli for a coffee and some veggie treats. Up to Zazu's Kitchen for a cocktail and a nice patio. Along to The Spotted Cow for a proper Sunday lunch. The Old Bookshop is probably our most visited bar, with great beers for Greg and unusual decor. And finishing off with our proper local, The Hare, a classic pub with friendly peeps. Also you can find Ivory Flowers, where I started my floral career with the lovely Xanthe!

Bath
Having spent quite a bit of time studying and now working in Bath, we have got to know it rather well. If you've got a day in Bath here is where we would go.

The Roman Baths: The Massive museum will take you hours to get through, but is very worth the tour.

The Royal Crescent: Worth the detour to find this stunning arc of houses.

Pulteney Bridge: Look out over the weir and check out the lovely shops.

Walcot Street and Broad Street have some of the more unusual and trendy shops to check out, including some great antique finds.

Amazing little deli called Sam's Kitchen for a quick lunch and coffee, and then hit up The Porter for a cocktail and an evening meal.
